Within each of us is the potential to be our best selves and the capacity to reach and exceed Every Goal.

When athletes and performers utilize the Skills Triad: Physical, Technical, and Mental they set themselves up for Optimal Performance. However, development of technical skills and even physical strength can be a much more obvious path than the crucial development of mental skills.

That’s Where I Come In.

Who i Am

I am a Ph.D. Clinical Psychologist licensed as a Psychologist Doctorate in the state of Vermont. I am trained to help individuals understand how to change their thoughts and self-talk to affect outcomes positively. I spent a great deal of my career working in the realm of Social Skills Training and understand first hand the power of goal setting, breaking complicated skills into manageable steps, vicarious learning, stress management, problem-solving, and positive reinforcement.

I am a fitness instructor and believe in the power of mental toughness and focus to reach for, meet, and surpass goals.

I am a parent raising two sons who are extreme sports athletes. I believe in the value of competition for the development of character, physical acumen, mental toughness, and social skills. I have been witness to and support of the highs and lows that come with participating in sports (e.g., victories, podiums, medals, injuries, losses, return to sport, performance anxiety, the yips, and on and on).

mentorship

I am receiving ongoing mentoring from David McDuff, M.D., a foremost Sports and Performance Psychiatrist. Dr. McDuff worked with the Baltimore Orioles for 30 years and has also worked with the Baltimore Ravens and the Indianapolis Colts. Dr. McDuff has worked extensively with Olympic, Professional, Division I, II, & III University/College, elite club and high school athletes and teams.

what i offer

group mental skills training

Six sessions of mental skills training including SMART goal setting, visualization exercises, breathing techniques, mindfulness, and routine development.

individual sessions

Individual tele-sessions to help individuals manage and overcome the challenges related to performance anxiety, injury, return to sport, and more.

Team presentations

Single hour group presentations to inform and inspire the development of mental skills and mental toughness.

I work with athletes from all sports but especially mountain biking (xc, enduro, downhill), skiing (freeski, slopestyle, racing), basketball, tennis, soccer, baseball, football, and dancing. All of my services are fee-for-service. I may consider a sliding scale fee depending on the specific situation. Contact me for prices.
